This quilt has been in the making for a long time. Most of my quilts do take a long time…mostly because I have multiple projects going all the time and so work on each individual one sporadically. Also because there are certain parts of quilting that I like more than others.
I love picking out and purchasing fabric. I have no problem doing that…and have lots of bins with fabric still waiting to be cut out.
I like making the quilt blocks and I have a lot of projects sitting around that are at the either working on blocks or completed blocks waiting to be sewn together stage.
I don’t like joining the blocks together as much. The project gets big and bulky and you have to keep things in order if you have more than one type of block or have sashings…so there is usually a bottleneck when it comes to blocks ready to be sewn together. Right now, I have blocks for two small quilts waiting to be sewn together and have a whole slew of The Frugal Blocks waiting to be sewn together. I’m sure I have enough of those for a king sized quilt with some left over.
I don’t mind the quilting…but most of the time when I quilt it requires setting the machine up differently…taking off the piecing foot…putting on the quilting foot…adjusting the feed dogs…rearranging the tables that the sewing machines sit on. So I’m not very prompt about getting from the top completed to the top quilted level.
That said, this quilt is getting close to finished.
I had some help this morning from my quilting buddy Patch who helped me get the first pink border on.
