It has been a busy week around here. We FINALLY had our family Christmas celebration. In keeping with long standing tradition I was working on gifts right up till the last minute. It was fun though, and everyone seemed to like the gifts they received.
I gave away 30 crocheted dishcloths, 4 wallhangings, two baby blankets and an afghan. This is a photo of one of the baby blankets. Baby Aalyviah definitely liked it.
Now that Christmas is officially over it is time to buckle down to other things–and in fact–I have been doing that.
My niece Amiracle spent the night with us on Friday night. Since getting a My Life doll (similar in size to the popular American Girl Dolls) she has been really into acquiring doll clothes for her new doll. So we spent some time on Saturday searching out patterns and making doll clothes. You’ll find links to some of our finds in this week’s freebies list. Here is Amiracle pressing fabric for our sewing adventure.
Here she is with the finished doll dress.
The doll dress uses the Heritage Drawstring Dress Pattern which is a freebie you can pick up here.
Since finishing up the Christmas gifts and learning to make hats I’ve been on a roll and have made several hats. Amiracle particularly fancied this one…and of course, her doll needed one too.
There isn’t really a pattern for any of the things, other than the doll dress, which I’ve shown this week. The baby blanket is really free-form–just single crochet. The hats are made with single crochet following the tutorial that I shared as part of last week’s freebies post.
The wall hangings were made using embroidered designs that were bordered with coordinating fabrics and then layered and quilted simply. There’s not really a pattern other than the one that evolved in my mind as I worked on the projects.
Here is the round up of neat free projects, patterns, embroidery designs, and counted cross stitch patterns I found this week while browsing the web. I hope you find something that will inspire you!
