Finally, at long last, the blue butterfly quilt is finished! I decided to quilt it with a bright pink all over stipple design. I backed it in a blue print and used the same blue print for the binding. The binding is machine stitched with a decorative stitch. For quilts I give as gifts I usually hand sew the binding, but some of the organizations that I donate quilts to require machine stitched bindings because they, in general, hold up better in the harsh conditions where they will be used.

I know this will be a donation quilt, but I  haven’t decided yet where I will donate it. It’s a happy, cheerful quilt and I’m really pleased with how it turned out.

The block pattern is the Independence Block from Judy Martin’s book Judy Martin’s Ultimate Book Of Quilt Block Patterns. This book is now out of print. It was my first quilting book and is still my favorite quilt book.

Judy Martin has many quilt books that are still in print. Some of them are featured in the Amazon ad that follows this post.

The border is from Quilt Pro System’s Print And Sew Easy Foundation Borders. This software stands alone. You do not need Quilt Pro to use it.
