Finally! At long last! The Bright Swirls Quilt top is finished! The backing is pieced. And the whole thing is layered and pinned for quilting.
This quilt first began to come to life a couple of years ago thanks to Christian romance author Autumn Macarthur. Autumn gifted me with a surprise gift of money to buy fabric for the charity quilts I make as a thank you for some editing I had done for her. I purchased the bright swirls, pink, green, purple and white fabric (as well as fabric for another quilt Bright Butterflies–which is still in the early stages) with Autumn’s gift. The yellow sashing I purchased later, after I had the blocks pieced because I needed to stretch the size of the quilt a bit.
I love the bright happy colors in this quilt. I can see a little girl somewhere in the world loving this quilt.
There were quite a few scraps left after I made the blocks, so I decided to piece a backing for the quilt–something I’ve never done before–but which was a lot of fun and which I will probably do again.
Thank you Autumn for making this quilt possible!
I will probably donate it through Quilts Beyond Borders — they need quilts for a September shipment to Ethiopia.
