My goal for the end of the year is to get some of the quilt pieces that have not been joined into blocks joined and to get the blocks joined into tops. I want to have a bunch of tops ready to put on the long arm so that I will be ready to dive in and do a lot of quilting early in the new year.
You’ve already seen some of my projects that are in the works for quilting in 2024. Those include the green batik quilt (which still needs to be finished into a top), the turtle quilt (which still needs to be finished into a top), and the wild color scheme quilt, among a lot of others that I am still working on.
I’m surprised how many incomplete tops there are…and how long some of them have been around in that state.
The pink, black, and purple blocks featured here are actually among the younger of my UFO’s. I bought the fabric for this quilt a couple of years ago when I saw the black with purple and pink flower print that forms the stars in these blocks, at Hobby Lobby. The fabric struck me as perfect for a pre-teen or teen girl’s quilt. It didn’t take me long to cut the pieces to make the blocks, but as often happens around here, I got sidetracked with other responsibilities and didn’t get back to the quilt for a while. Hence, just getting the blocks for the quilt (only half are pictured here) finished.
My goal for next week is to work on the quilt sashings and borders, and who knows, maybe incorporate some cute cornerstones. I’d like to have the top completed next week, but that may or may not happen. There are several other quilts waiting their turn to make it to the completed top stage.
With so many projects nearing the quilting stage I’m thinking lots about batting and quilting thread which I often purchase at Connecting Threads. They have some beautiful thread and a big selection of battings.
I’m linking up with Friday Foto Fun at Powered By Quilting, Brag About Your Beauties at From Bolt to Beauty, and Finished or Not Friday at Alycia Quilts.
[…] finished this week are a set of pink, purple and black blocks that are earmarked for a teen or pre-teen girl’s charity quilt. Hopefully next week […]
I like your goals!!! and moving things towards finished is always encouraging to me to keep going!!
Seeing other people moving things toward finished always encourages me too. Quilting is one of those things that takes time so we kind of have to celebrate the small accomplishments as we finish one phase of a project and move on to the next. I’m gearing up for a lot of complete finishes in early 2024. That will feel good because I haven’t had a complete finish in a while. Your Quilts of Valor piece on your design wall is GORGEOUS!
